New Entry-Level 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250 Coming This Fall

Mercedes-Benz is introducing a brand-new electric vehicle this fall: the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250. With a starting price of $59,990, the 2023 EQB 250 will be the most affordable electric vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. Yet, it doesn't skimp on features, promising an impressive range and maintaining the versatility we've come to associate with the EQB electric luxury SUV. Here are some of the highlights of the new 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250.

394 km Range

The EQB 250 is equipped with the same 70.5-kWh battery found in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB 350. However, the EQB 250 boasts a range of 394 km, while the EQB 350 offers 356 km. This discrepancy can be attributed to the different powertrains in each model, which we'll discuss next.

A Single Electric Motor Powers the EQB 250

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250 features a front-mounted electric motor that drives the front wheels, producing 188 hp and 284 pound-feet of torque. Although the EQB 250 offers slightly reduced performance, this doesn't compromise its capability. Not having the rear wheels connected to an electric motor is what allows the EQB 250 its extended range.

100 kW Charging Capability

The new Mercedes-Benz EQB 250 can support up to 100 kW of DC fast charging, taking its battery from 10% to 80% in just 32 minutes. When charging at home, the EQB 250 can go from 10% to 100% in approximately 7.75 hours using a maximum charging speed of 11 kW.

Remarkable Versatility

A notable feature of the EQB electric SUV is its spacious interior and cargo capacity, despite its compact size. This remains true for the 2023 EQB 250, available in both five-seat and seven-seat configurations. It offers over 1,000 mm of front headroom and 979 mm of headroom in the second row, ensuring a comfortable ride for passengers. Cargo capacity ranges between 465 L and 495 L behind the second row for the seven-seat and five-seat configurations respectively. Maximum cargo space varies from 1620 L to 1710 L. The second row can also be adjusted either to provide more cargo space or to enhance rear-seat legroom. Regarding the optional third row, it's designed to accommodate passengers up to 1.65 m tall comfortably.

Attractive Value Proposition

As highlighted earlier, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250 starts at $59,990. This makes it eligible for the federal government's iZEV EV incentive program, which provides up to $5,000 off on the purchase of a new EQB. In Québec, buyers can also avail of a rebate up to $7,000 from the Québec government Roulez Vert EV incentives program.
