Mercedes-Benz G 580 EQ 2025: A Timeless Classic Now Offered with Electric Powertrain

For 2025, our popular G-Wagon model (G-Class) is now available with a fully electric powertrain. Its name? The Mercedes-Benz G 580 EQ.

In continuous production since its launch in 1979, this new version marks a major milestone in the evolution of the Mercedes-Benz lineup. It retains the essence of a platform that’s beloved around the world, while adding a modern and electrifying twist. Now available at Mercedes-Benz Rive-Sud, the G 580 EQ 2025 is already turning heads with its unique blend of tradition and innovation.

An Enhanced Design, True to Its Origins

The exterior styling of the G 580 EQ remains faithful to the DNA of previous generations, while incorporating distinctive elements that clearly mark its transition to electric. Among these features are a LED light strip surrounding the Mercedes-Benz logo at the front, exclusive 18-inch wheels designed specifically for this model, and aerodynamic adjustments aimed at improving energy efficiency.

Special care was taken to maintain a bold, modern look without compromising the rugged aesthetic that made the G-Class so iconic.

Electrifying Performance

The G 580 EQ is built on a unique electric platform equipped with four electric motors, one per wheel, ensuring fully independent torque distribution. This system allows for enhanced maneuverability, both on-road and over rough terrain.

In terms of performance, it doesn’t disappoint: the four motors deliver 570 horsepower and 859 lb-ft of torque, figures comparable to the AMG GT 63. With Dynamic Select technology, drivers can easily switch between drive modes, from "Comfort" to "Sport", in just seconds.

While the G 580 EQ represents a leap toward electrification, the gasoline-powered G 550 and G AMG 63 models remain available.

Interior and Onboard Technology

Just like the exterior, the interior retains the emblematic features of the gasoline version while incorporating several updates. Notable features include a next-generation multifunction steering wheel with touch controls, finished in Nappa leather, as well as climate-controlled cup holders.

On the tech side, the G 580 EQ comes standard with the MBUX infotainment system, featuring dual 12.3-inch screens, a touch interface, an advanced voice assistant, and augmented reality navigation. Wireless smartphone charging and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration are also standard. Optional features include rear-seat entertainment screens and an onboard dashcam.

Discover It at Mercedes-Benz Rive-Sud

With the Mercedes-Benz G 580 EQ 2025, the G-Class enters the electric era without abandoning the legacy that made it a legend. Faithful to its original design, offering impressive performance, and equipped with cutting-edge technology, this new model reflects Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to balancing innovation with tradition.
