AMG: the obsession of performance.

A lot of people admire Mercedes-Benz without fully grasping the high level of commitment required for their design or understanding the meaning of the three letters “AMG”. True connoisseurs know that AMG is the high-performance division of this internationally-renowned manufacturer, but very few are those aware of the story behind its creation.

A tale of passion.

As it’s the case for a lot of success stories, AMG’s started in a very modest setting, in a mill to be precise. In the late 60’s, two mechanical engineers passionate about high-end engines began to meet in this unusual place to tune Mercedes-Benz aimed to race tracks. The results were almost immediate: as soon as the 80’s, the 300E AMG, nicknamed “the hammer”, proved itself to be a force to be reckoned with thanks to its impressive, unseen at the time, top speed of 300 km/h! The 90’s will mark a turning point in the relationship between AMG and Mercedes-Benz that produced a car for the first time together, the mythical C36 AMG. The first decade of the 21st century has seen the first engine entirely designed by AMG and delivered “stock” on a Mercedes-Benz. It was an 8-cylinder, 6.3-liter engine still regarded as one of the best naturally-aspirated engine ever produced. Finally, a few years ago, a Mercedes-Benz won a Formula One competition organized for car manufacturers.

The AMG signature: more than raw power.

The AMG difference goes well beyond just performance. AMG Mercedes-Benz also distinguish themselves with longer profiles, bigger wheel arches, and a lower body. Everything is made to reinforce the aggressiveness and the dominant appearance of these vehicles. The approach used by AMG is almost artisanal, but on a large scale. This division employs over 700 highly competent and extremely dedicated people guided by an inspiring management philosophy: “One man, one engine”. All AMG engines are manually assembled and respect the most stringent standards to power and heighten already-exceptional vehicles.

The story of AMG is a tale of passion and commitment, two elements that are now recognized at their fair value: very few car models can be compared to an AMG Mercedes-Benz. If you don’t believe it, go take a look at the models C-Class, CLS, GLC and S-Class presented at Mercedes-Benz Rive-Sud, your Mercedes-Benz car dealer located on the boulevard Taschereau where you can also benefit from the right financial solution for you.
