A look at the Mercedes-Benz electric SUV lineup

Mercedes-Benz has been leading the way when it comes to electrification in the luxury vehicle segment. The German automaker currently offers more premium electric vehicles than any other brand, giving potential buyers a wide variety of options. There are two premium luxury electric sedans, the EQE and the EQS, and there are also two impressive fully electric luxury Mercedes-Benz SUVs with a third model on the way. Here we take a look at the current Mercedes-Benz electric sport utility vehicle lineup and the models that are offered right now as well as upcoming vehicles that we will see later this year.

If you are in the market for a luxury SUV and you want to go electric, Mercedes-Benz is a great place to start.

2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB is the entry-level model in the Mercedes-Benz electric SUV lineup. It starts at 75 700 $ and it is roughly the same size as the popular Mercedes-Benz GLB. The EQB is perfect for driving around the city with its compact dimensions and small footprint, but it also provides exceptional versatility with over 1,710 L of total cargo capacity. It also offers space for up to seven passengers in certain versions. The EQB is powered by a dual electric motor setup, giving you the all-weather confidence of 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The powertrain delivers 288 hp, pushing you to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. In terms of electric performance, the new EQB features a 70.7-kWh battery with 365 kilometres of range.

2023 Mercedes-Benz VUS EQS

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is the flagship Mercedes-Benz electric sport utility vehicle. It offers the most versatility and the most luxury. It is offered in two versions starting with the EQS 450 4MATIC SUV starting at 136 000 $ while the more powerful Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC SUV starts at $158,500.

Both models feature 4MATIC all-wheel drive and they both feature essentially the same electric powertrain. The difference is in the performance with the entry-level model offering 335 hp and reaching 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds. The more powerful EQS 580 4MATIC SUV pushes total output to 516 hp and 632 pound-feet of torque, enough to reach 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. Both models feature over 2,000 L of total cargo capacity and five- or seven-seat configurations.

Both models also feature a 107.8-kWh battery that delivers 459 kilometres of range in both models.

New 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV

The next electric sport utility vehicle coming from Mercedes-Benz later this year will be the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV. It will be offered in multiple versions including a very powerful AMG model that will deliver up to 677 hp and 738 pound-feet of torque. Entry-level EQE SUV models will deliver between 288 hp and 402 hp.

The EQE SUV will be a bit smaller than the EQS although it will still offer exceptional versatility with up to 1,675 L of total cargo space. A 90.6-kWh battery will provide the energy for all-electric luxury driving with fast charging capability reaching 170 kW. Range has yet to be confirmed, but we expect it to be between 400 and 500 kilometres depending on the model.
